Post Star Citizen
http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/

I pledged at the "Come fly with me" level.

I have been bitching about the lack of space and flight sims for a while. Looks like Chris Roberts is planning a new one. Watch the video, it is well put together. He got an Angel investor to fund producing the video and demo code and it makes for a much more convincing pseudo-Kickstarter. Apparently they are going to support head tracking/mounted displays for a virtual cockpit view.

It isn't promising that the site was flaky for the first 3 days, but any port in a storm.

Found out about the ship I am going to get
Quote:
I asked about it yesterday and Ben told me “I have to tell you, the Constellation is going to be COOL… it’s a multi-person ship that you can crew with your friends, including a turret they can man and a smaller fighter someone can launch from it.”

:D

The project is well on its way to meeting funding goals.

They just released a description of the ship customization mechanics and the ships you get for pledging.
http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/ships-plan/

Quote:
Constellation

Builder: Roberts Space Industries
Crew (max): 4
Mass (empty): 75,000 kg
Focus: Long-Range Mercantile / Space Superiority

When you think handsome bounty hunter making his own way in a galaxy of enemies, you think the Constellation. The Constellation, a multi-person freighter, is the most popular ship in RSI’s current production array. Constellations are beloved by smugglers and merchants alike because they are modular, high powered… and just downright iconic-looking. The Constellation includes a manned turret, a large cargo area and a small flight deck capable of launching a snub fighter in its own defense.

Upgrade Capacity: 14
Cargo Capacity: 35 tonnes

Engine-
Modifiers: 4
Max. Class: Anti-Matter
Thruster Class: 4 x TR6, 8 x TR3

Hardpoints-
2 x Class 1: Equipped 2 x Behring M3A Laser Cannon
4 x Class 2: Equipped 2 x A&R Pike IV Neutron Gun
6 x Class 3: Equipped 2 x Behring Judge missiles (Friend or Foe)
2 x Class 4: Equipped 1x Behring M5A Laser Cannon (turret)

Tender -
Short Range P52 Space Fighter

Similar to… Paradigm, Salvia, Armored Transport, Millennium Falcon

No love for space sims? No one wants to go in on an Idris corvette with me?

They are at 5 million, might even make it to 6. The guys are the kings of crowdfuc... crowfunding.

They'll get $40 from me shortly. I'm psyched. I just haven't had the spare money to pledge yet. I love space sims. I'll need a new joystick before this comes out.

Also, a good modern space sim is the X-series (X^2, X^3). Pretty good games. I know I got Chenzo hooked on X2 years ago.

This thing is still going on. Dog fighting alpha is coming at the end of December. The last date for buying packages with LTI is Nov 26th. I can buy LTI packages and gift them, I think the prices are a little lower for me and they come with LTI (which isn't really worth much). I don't think I get a discount on the packages that include alpha/beta access.

They just released a video https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm ... net-Lineup
It's rendered in Cry Engine using the in-game assets.

The hangar module is fun if you have a big ship like the Constellation, it's cool to watch the assets evolve with each patch and the steady stream of screw ups. The end of December is a long way away for me.

I will not admit to what is in my hangar. Supposedly they are going to allow all kinds of sharing in the persistent universe so I am good friend to have.
